Hmmm..it does seem to run very slowly indeed. It took hours to reload Leopard and it's painfully slow booting 5-10mins and also trying to do anything once it gets to the desktop, I know that I've turned off all sorts of things to get Vista to lift it's skirts, but this was verging on the ridiculous. It really

For the moment apparently no problems -unless, looking at EventLogs, and this really scares me. Vista keeps producing lots of errorsLogs. Otherwise, it's not really useful for anything. What a crock of shit. Vista is at par or ahead of OS X in terms of speed and stability. I have a dual boot install of MacOS X 10.5.2 and Vista Ultimate. OSX runs in circles around Vista. Even with 2 GB of RAM, Vista is slow as molasses in January.

I do run AV software most of the time, due to the risk of losing my work, but it is extremely rare that anything comes up. NOD32 v3 is good, as it does not slow my computers down. It's written in assembler apparently. But have you tried installing SpyBot S&D and running a scan recently? :-) -- Regards, John.

Either the people who are running Vista have inadequate machines (that can be the only reason I can think of for people saying Vista runs very slow, etc.), or they really don't have Vista and are just going along with the herd. In many cases you would only want to try to fix an ost-file when you are on a really slow or expensive (pay per MB) connection and you have a large mailbox categories and I think message flags are also different. I have no idea how the corruption happened - everything was fine when I hibernated Vista last night.

But is Vista really 64-bit capable because of this? OS X's LP64 model just gratuitously breaks stuff: 'long' changes meaning when you compile for 64-bit. Unlike Vista, you can't turn off lots of stuff to make it faster. That is funny, since my wifes eMac G4 has only 512Mb and now runs Leopard better than Tiger.
